Megan Bowdon

Welcome! I’m so glad you are here! I’m Megan Bowdon, an artist from Northwest Louisiana, where I was born and raised and where I live with my wonderful husband and 3 amazing children.

As far back as I can remember, I have always been creative and artistic. I spent most of my childhood drawing, painting, and crafting whenever I could, and developed my love for painting in my high school art classes. I went on to attended Louisiana Tech University where I graduated with a BFA in Interior Design, and worked in the design industry for 5 years, until we were expecting our first baby, and I decided to leave my job to raise our family. It was during this time at home with my young babies that I was searching for a creative outlet and found my way back to my creative roots and picked up a paintbrush again. After encouragement from family and friends, I officially launched Megan Bowdon Art + Design in 2017.

As an artist, I am often asked “What do you paint?” And I excitedly answer “Everything!” From abstracts to landscapes, still life to animals, I am a firm believer that beauty can be found anywhere, and I want to portray that through each brush stroke. I love to explore colors, accentuate light and shadows, play with subjects and experiment with materials and mediums to create a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. In my paintings you will find a unique composition, depth through layers, a rich mix of color, and tiny hidden details that make a big statement. 

Throughout my art journey, I have always drawn from my Interior Design background to paint unique statement pieces that you can design a room around. My goal is to create artwork that will transform a space from ordinary to extraordinary! My passion is to create joy through creativity, and it is my hope that my artwork will spread joy and happiness through each piece collected…as a love letter of sorts…from my easel to your home.

the Journey

Where It All Started

As far back as I can remember, I have always been creative. As a child, my parents supplied me with endless arts and craft supplies and enrolled me in any art class I could find. My high school art teacher fostered my love for painting and encouraged me to pursue a creative career. I went on to graduate from Louisiana Tech University with a BFA in Interior Design. I worked as a designer for 5 years until our first baby was born and I decided to leave work to raise our family. During that time, I quickly realized I still needed a creative outlet and I picked up a paint brush again, and Megan Bowdon Art + Design was born!

The Inspiration

I view everything from a creative lenses, and therefore see artistic inspiration everywhere. As a Louisiana girl, I am inspired by our unique culture, landscape and flare for the dramatic. We love to travel often and I am always taking pictures on our adventures for ideas for new collections. I am so intrigued by fashion and interior design and am continually inspired by their uses of color, textures and construction.

Passion

What Means The Most

I ultimately want to use the talent the Lord has given me to glorify Him. I never want to take for granted all He has blessed me with. I want my children to see me pursuing my passion through creativity and know they can chase after their own dreams. And I want to creative beautiful, unique and meaningful art that my collectors can connect with and enjoy in their homes for years to come.
